How do college-bound seniors view college Web sites?
These data are taken from the 2010 Noel-Levitz E-Expectations report, Focusing Your E-Recruitment Efforts to Meet the E-Expectations of College-Bound Students. The results come from a survey of 1,000 high school seniors from throughout the United States.
There are a couple of items of particular note here:
- With the vast majority of students browsing from home, there is a good opportunity for you to get parents and guardians involved on your site as well as prospective students. Students may have questions for their parents about attending your campus, or want to show their parents information that’s on your site. Make sure information that’s most relevant to parents is easy to find.
- Nearly 1 in 4 high school students said they were browsing college sites on mobile phones. That figure is very likely to increase in the coming years. Is your site ready for these mobile-phone visitors? Look into optimizing the most relevant and important site content (such as academic offerings, cost, and financial aid) for mobile phones.
