Ann Cools

Ann Cools has over 28 years of experience in higher education with extensive experience in financial aid, admissions, and enrollment management. She has expertise in financial aid leveraging, policy analysis, business processing, and strategic planning.

Previous campus experience

Ann previously served as director of student financial services at Albion College (MI) where she managed over $45 million in financial aid funding from all sources. She specialized in business process improvement, strategic use of data, and marketing communications. As a member of the enrollment management leadership team, she was instrumental in implementing many campus partnerships and enrollment initiatives. She led many campuswide initiatives including the restructuring of scholarship stewardship and awarding programs, student employment, financial literacy, and retention. Ann was part of the college strategic planning and implementation team.

Prior to joining Albion College, Ann served at the University of California at both the Irvine campus and the Office of the President, the University of Michigan, and the University of LaVerne (CA), as well as trainer for the College Board. Her roles encompassed policy and program development, publications, scholarship management, and compliance. Additionally, she has served in many professional association roles including state leadership roles in California and Michigan.

Education

Ann holds an M.A. in University Administration as well as a B.S. in program management from Michigan State University. She is a Certified Personal Financial Manager.
